Advanced Isolation and Testing Services Sdn Bhd and their Principal, STATS (UK) Ltd, provide isolation, auxiliary N2 pumping and cold cutting services during SapuraKencana HL Sdn Bhd valve replacement works at the Muda Riser Platform located in the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area (MTJDA). A 24” STATS Remote Tecno Plug was pigged to the set location outboard of SDV-RP014 against the pipeline operating pressure of 99barg using N2 provided by High Point Technic Sdn Bhd. At the set location the Tecno Plug was activated and the primary and secondary seals tested and verified prior to the isolation certificate being issued.
For the first time during a Malaysian project STATS also provided cold cutting and bevelling services during the SDV removal and in preparation for the welding of the new valve.

AITS Sdn Bhd/STATS UK Ltd were contracted to assist Petronas by providing a double block and monitor isolation to allow onsite valve change outs. A proven isolation was required throughout the valve change out activities for 11 days in September 2015. Two pipelines were isolated, one 24" PL46 and one 28" PL39. The project required the use of a 24" Remote Tecno plug and a 28" Remote Tecno plug, which were used to isolate the pipelines. The RTP’s were launched from the respective launchers and pigged to their set location outboard of the valves to be changed.
Valves changed:
24" PMO PL46 24 BRB - RDPA Pipeline - MOV 2947, MOV2946
28" PMO PL39 28 RDPA – OGT Pipeline - MOV2936, MOV2937, MOV2938

AITS Sdn/STATS (UK) Ltd were contracted to isolate the PL361 28" pipeline (KAKG-A to MLNG-2) under pressure during 28 day shutdown period starting on 02/09/2015. The work scope utilised a 28" Remote Tecno Plug which was pigged to a location 46m from the launcher, downstream of the shutdown valve (valve SDV-2902) in the vertical straight section of the riser. This was to allow Petronas to carry out a valve replacement work scope safely without the need to depressurise the pipeline. The Remote Tecno Plug train was pigged into set location using Nitrogen by ‘High Point Technic Sdn Bhd, the AITS Sdn Bhd/STATS subcontracted pigging contractor.
April 2015
STATS was contracted to isolate the PL327 30" condensate export line (PL327 30" ) under pressure during 15 day shutdown period starting on 13/04/2015. The work scope utilised a 30" Remote Tecno Plug which was pigged to a location 38 m from the launcher, downstream of the last isolation valve SDV-2901 in the vertical straight section of the riser; so that Petronas could undertake valve replacement work scope safely without the need to depressurise the pipeline. The Remote Tecno Plug train was pigged into set location using Nitrogen by the Client appointed pumping services supplier.
During the same shutdown window a 32" Remote Tecno Plug was used to Isolate PL325 32" Trunkline No.5 during the replacement of SDV-2921

In February STATS successfully installed its first BISEP™ in Malaysia to provide a positive isolation of the ANGSI pipeline receiver kicker line, Onshore Slug Catcher. The 18” BISEP™, installed through a STATS slab valve, was used in conjunction with a STATS Tecnoplug™ to provided simultaneous ‘double block and bleed’ isolations of both the kicker and main pipeline whilst allowing uninterrupted production gas flow. For the duration of the valve change outs the pipeline pressure was maintained at full operating pressure, 78 barg.
During the execution phase AITS Sdn Bhd’s personnel formed part of the STATS Team assisting in the deployment, monitoring and retrieval of the isolation tools and managing on-site project communication between client, main contractor and project sub-contractors.

During late July and early August STATS successfully isolated Trunk Lines 3 and 4, MLNG-Dua, Bintulu for the Kumang Cluster onshore tie-in. The new pipelines will supply the onshore facility with gas from the Kanowit CPP located approximately 250km offshore Bintulu. Two STATS remotely operated 36” Tecno Plugs™ were utilised during the project to isolate the pipelines upstream of the tie-in locations. For the duration of the tie-in phase the isolated upstream pipeline pressure was maintained at 69 barg.
AITS Sdn Bhd personnel supported all stages of the project, from bid to successful completion. During the execution phase AITS Sdn Bhd’s personnel formed part of the Tecno Plug™ Team assisting in the deployment, monitoring and retrieval of the isolation tools and managing on-site project communication between client, main contractor and project sub-contractors.
The project marks a significant milestone for STATS as these are the first Tecno Plug™ isolations carried out in Malaysia.
